Our Purpose, Mission, & Vision

• In the last decade, isolating events have unfolded that threaten community (e.g. politically-motivated anti-democratic dualism, social media echo chambers, and Covid). We see a need for developing communities where we engage differences with dignity and respect. We see a need to collaborate with service-oriented, justice-focused people and organizations to cultivate compassionate community through work similar to NPR’s One Small Step: Courageous Conversations Across A Growing Divide. One Small Step explores the idea that intentional conversations between partisans could be a catalyst for national healing. While this is an example of the type of mission congruency, differences with our vision include focusing on local communities and offering more than a podcast (e.g. interviews with key people, web-based resource repository, etc.). Our efforts are centered on the principles of Non Violent Compassionate Communication (Rosenberg, 2015).
• Our Mission – To create opportunities to engage in communication on divisive issues with empathy and compassion, seeking understanding rather than simply to be right.
• Q’s News evolved from a conversation about the value of books, articles, videos, documentaries, and other media that Dr. JQ Adams has cultivated and shared with educators, colleagues and audience members over the past five decades. Every two weeks, CCC will provide a short video release of a concept, news item or media snippet that is relevant to unfolding contemporary issues and the mission of Cultivating Compassionate Coexistence.
